*January 28th, 1882- Whitley's Opera House was built by a stock company organized in April 1881 and opened on January 28th, 1882.                              

   Main Street Merchant     Marketing Cooperative

  This month's meeting will be held January 14th, 2009 at CoreFirst Bank & Trust, 701 Merchant. The meeting begins at 8:00 am in the meeting room in the lower level of the bank.  The Merchant Marketing Cooperative Meetings are held  conjunction with the Promotion Meeting. 

   Merchants meet every other month to discuss cooperative marketing ideas, promotional events, sales data and other issues and topics of concern to small business owners.  

Kansas Downtown    Development Association "Day On The Hill"

    KDDA strives to keep members informed about state and national legislation that may impact small business issues and downtown redevelopment efforts. The top issues that concern Kansas downtowns are: Health Insurance for Small Businesses, Worker's Compensation,  Unemployment, Destination Sales Tax, Continued funding for development programs, and support for the Kansas Main Street Program within the  Kansas Department of Commerce budget. 

Day on the Hill is held each year in January.
